Big Gay Day 2024, one of Brisbane’s largest LGBTQIA+ street festivals, will be held on Sunday 5th May. In exciting news, you will be entertained by Spice Girl’s Melanie C, who is heading over from the UK to headline the amazing line-up!
The all-inclusive, one-day event is back for its 24th instalment and has also announced its theme, revealing that partygoers will be taken down a rainbow brick road with Wickham of Oz!
Big Gay Day is hosted in Fortitude Valley. The annual event sees you enjoying a sparkling line-up of popstars, drag queens, musicians and DJs come together.

Wickham Hotel Hosts Big Gay Day 2024
With a long history of closing down the inner-city street outside The Wickham Hotel, 2024 will be no different. Fabulous Paul Wheeler will be your MC once again, having hosted previous Big Gay Days and regular events as a much-loved member of Brisbane’s LGBTQIA+ community.
The Wickham has become one of Brisbane’s leading entertainment venues with the one-day festival previously hosting internationally renowned artists like Boy George and The Veronicas and more.
Each year Big Gay Day raises around $10,000 for LGBTQIA+ charities from your attendance and, in 2024, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to two LGBT organisations.
Venue Manager Mark Baker is anticipating another extravagant day. “Big Gay Day has become such an iconic day in the calendar for our community. It’s all about being loud, proud, and having a lot of fun. We also raise money for important charities in the LGBTQIA+ space and we’re so excited for what’s coming in 2024.”
