The city’s seasonal calendar is warming up, with a new round-up of cosy Melbourne’s cosiest winter activities, from private Yarra River glasshouses and riverside movie nights to beachside salsa and winter cinema.

Leading the line-up is The Wharf Hotel’s all-new Glasshouses, a winter-exclusive experience overlooking the Yarra River. Running till September, the Glasshouses offer fully enclosed private spaces for groups of up to 8 guests, with multiple sessions available daily and limited spots per session.

Each glasshouse is designed in one of three themes: Sunflower House, a golden garden escape filled with bright blooms; Starry Night, a dreamy after-dark setting with deep blue and gold details; and Scarlet Bloom, a rich red floral glasshouse designed for a striking winter dining experience.
Guests can choose between two $59 per person packages: a Dining Package, featuring a classic sit-down winter meal with a share-style platter, or a Lounge Package, made for grazing with share platters, pizza, chips and garlic bread.
Optional upgrades include chocolate fondue, beer tasting paddles, gin tasting flights, a Kids Spritz Paddle, self-led Paint & Sip, and Polaroid cameras to capture the moment. Families are welcome, with kids’ activities and roaming entertainers on Sundays.

For midweek plans by the river, Yarra Botanica will host movie nights every Wednesday from 7pm, screening a rotating line-up of iconic films, from rom-coms and classics to cult favourites.

At West Beach Pavilion, Monday nights are set to heat up with Salsa & Sip, a beginner-friendly dance class by the beach. No partner or experience is needed, and tickets include a drink on arrival.

West Beach Pavilion will also host Winter Cinema every Wednesday at 7pm, pairing iconic films with cosy beachside vibes.

Christmas is coming early at Morris House, with the Bogan Comedy Christmas Feast on 18th & 19th July, bringing together a Christmas in July lunch and live comedy show.
