Runaway Bay Tavern on the Gold Coast is entering an exciting new chapter with the opening of its new-look Sports Bar. Now twice the size of the original, the refreshed space has been designed with sports fans front of mind. Featuring a long bar, a huge 7.2m simtek LED screen, 22 additional TVs, upgraded race day viewing and new pool tables.
The new social layout features updated furnishings and upgraded seating, designed for extended game-day viewing, and has been reimagined as the go-to destination for live sport lovers. The relaunch kicks off with this Saturday’s final Lions game, with plans already underway for major events around the AFL and NRL Grand Finals.
New Sports Bar at Runaway Bay Tavern
“We’re thrilled to be re-opening the Sports Bar to our guests,” says Venue Manager Andrea Muller. “Locals and visitors have loved the Sports Bar, but it needed a refresh. Now, we are excited for everyone to enjoy live sport and social catch ups with new pool tables and huge screens playing all the action live and loud.”
The Beer Garden has also undergone a refresh, now offering guests access to an outdoor extension of the bar, a pool table, and a dedicated entrance conveniently located next to the car park. It’s set to become the go-to destination for Tradie Club, Friday BBQs, and live music.
Those looking for a great feed can opt for hearty pub classics such as steaks, parmi, burgers, pizzas, pastas and salads. The Sports Bar also serves up its own snack menu Monday to Friday 11.30am – 2.30pm, including favourite snacks Beef Sliders, Duck Spring Rolls and Nachos.

To celebrate the opening of the new-look Sports Bar, the local community are invited to the Launch Weekend event; and come together to experience the new space with giveaways and heaps of surprises from Friday 8th – Sunday 10th August. Guests will enjoy complimentary $10 off for new sign-ups to The Pass app, live music, Tradie Club with complimentary BBQ snacks, meat raffles, and free nibbles all weekend.
With fun plans for punters, the new TAB station will be offering:

Part of a broader revitalisation of the pub, the Sports Bar is the first stage of the upgrades that will include the bistro, gaming area and a brand-new beer garden in the future.
