Runaway Bay Tavern’s New Spaces: The SEQ pub unveils new spaces with the renovated bistro and beer garden, completing the second and final stage of the pub’s transformation into a modern neighbourhood local for the northern Gold Coast.
Building on the refresh of the sports bar last year, the latest works have seen an expansion of the bistro and the addition of a new sprawling beer garden complete with a playground, creating more space for casual catch-ups, after-work drinks, family gatherings, live sport and midweek meals.
Runaway Bay Tavern’s New Spaces
The bistro is bright, welcoming and family friendly. A new dual-sided bar is a focal point of the room, with lush plants, bright colours, and warm timber reflecting the coastal subtropics surrounds.
Expanding into the former function room, The Bistro now offers a flexible layout for groups of all sizes. New furniture, banquette seating and cozy dining pockets allow the space to shift easily between everyday dining, group bookings and larger occasions.
Connecting with the refreshed outdoor terrace dining area, the new beer garden provides casual seating and family-friendly dining that makes the most of Queensland outdoor living. Guests can choose between seating under the partial fixed roof, umbrellas, or in the open air.
The brand-new playground provides a dedicated space for younger guests, while a 3.5-metre-wide screen will show major sporting events live and loud all year-round.
The refurbishment draws on the character of its Queensland setting, with a connected layout for easy flow to indoor and outdoor areas. Abundant greenery and artwork that celebrates the local waterways and wildlife adds a distinctly local feel designed around the northern Gold Coast lifestyle.
The new menu is built around classic pub favourites, from schnitzel, fish and chips, quality steaks and salt and pepper calamari to a dedicated kids’ menu for younger diners. Highlights include Tin Can Nachos, Pub Carbonara, Queensland Prawn & Lobster Roll, Fried Chicken Wings, Barramundi and Lamb Rump.
Father’s Day
Opening in time for Father’s Day, Runaway Bay Tavern is celebrating with all-day lunch and dinner dining. Specials on the menu include the $29 classic Sunday Roast. Kids’ entertainment will be running from 12pm to 3pm, allowing Dad to relax whilst enjoying a bev with lunch or dinner.

Runaway Bay Tavern will offer a weekly calendar of specials and events designed to give locals a reason to return throughout the week:
- Monday: Kids Eat Free (with adult main purchase)
- Tuesday: $26 Steak Tuesdays, and free pool all day
- Wednesday: $25 Parmi Wednesdays and Trivia Night from 7pm
- Thursday: A chance to spin the wheel
- Friday: Tradie Club and BBQ from 3pm with live music from 4pm and a chance to spin the wheel
- Saturday: Live music from 3pm
- Sunday: $29 Sunday Roast, Kids’ Entertainment 12-3pm, and free pool all day
With the final stage of works now complete, Runaway Bay Tavern is open seven days a week for lunch, dinner, live sport and weekly entertainment.
