The Sands Tavern Reveals New Look – Popular Maroochydore pub The Sands Tavern has had a whole-venue renovation. The venue is now a refreshed, multi-purpose community hub welcoming families, sport lovers, social groups – a true local pub that’s built for all ages.
To celebrate the renovations, The Sands Tavern is hosting a long Locals Weekend 1st-4th May. Across the four days locals can enjoy a range of activities and entertainment including live music, giveaways and free kids’ entertainment.

The standout of the renovation is the expanded outdoor spaces. At the heart of The Sands Tavern, the new beer garden has been designed as a modern and playful extension of the venue, brought to life with pops of colour through vibrant umbrellas and a relaxed, open-air feel. Flexible furniture caters to everything from small catchups to larger group gatherings, while air conditioning throughout ensures year-round comfort. A large outdoor screen makes it the perfect place to catch the game, and families are well looked after with a revamped, colourful kids’ play area and half basketball court to keep the ballers entertained. It’s an easy, inviting space to settle in with friends, family or colleagues, whether for a lazy afternoon, to catch the sports or listen to live music.
Throughout the rest of the venue, the interiors lean into an edgy coastal vibe, with a mix of colour, texture and layered finishes to feel relaxed and welcoming. In the sports bar, guests can catch every moment of the action on a supersized new 7m screen.
The casual dining offering serves up elevated pub food that will satisfy any appetite with familiar favourites and hearty Aussie classics. The generous portions and quality ingredients alongside the relaxed atmosphere suit laid-back lunches, mid-week family dinners and group get togethers.
A new lineup of weekly specials and entertainment will keep locals and visitors to the area happy throughout the week:
- Monday – Friday: Happy Hour, 4pm-6pm
- Wednesdays:
- $25 Parmis
- Trivia from 6pm
- Thursdays: $25 Steak Night
- Fridays:
- Tradie Club/Friday Knock Offs 2pm-7pm with $10 The Pass credit with the first order, BBQ from 6pm
- Live music 4pm-7pm
- Saturdays: Live music 3pm-7pm
- Sundays:
- Free kids’ entertainment (such as face painting, balloon twisting or petting zoo) 12pm-3pm

The Local Heroes program further integrates the pub with the local community. For every Parmi sold on a Wednesday, $1 will be donated to Camp Quality. The charity provides kids, the siblings and parents with fun experiences, education, specialised cancer care, counselling and a supportive community.
