Wong baby

Managing the public relations for Good Group, we alerted media to the new opening of their restaurant, Wong Baby, in South Yarra.

Exciting new Asian fusion restaurant, Wong Baby, has opened its doors to hungry Melburnians at its vividly designed Goldfields House location in South Yarra.

Catering for 250+ guests, the newest addition to Good Group Hospitality’s growing Australasian portfolio is serving up a fun-dining experience to satisfy everyone’s taste buds across Wong Baby’s multi-level, fast-paced eatery, bringing to life the feel of an Asian street food environment.

The menu has been designed by Good Group Culinary Director Angel Fernandez, who has successfully launched White + Wong’s in Sydney and Botswana Butchery in Melbourne and Sydney for Good Group. Angel also brings a wealth of experience to the table from his previous role as Culinary Director at Dante NYC.

Inspired by the street food of Southeast Asia, menu items include light bites such as Kingfish Sashimi (soy pickled radishes, salted chilli), Spiced Beef Salad (rice noodles, chilli, aromatic leaves) and Wagyu Beef Dumplings (shiitake and cumin shumai). Those looking to order something more substantial can indulge in the likes of Khao Poon Rice Noodle Soup (prawns, banana blossom), Whole Deep Fried Market Fish (three flavour sauce) BBQ Lao Pork Sausage (green Mango, lime, peanut relish) and Green Curry of Beef (served with roti or rice).

And Wong Baby hasn’t forgotten about those with a sweet tooth! Diners will be transported to dessert heaven after sampling dishes such as Dadar Gulung (fresh mango), Coconut Custard (roasted pineapple, pineapple granita), Wong’s Fried Ice Cream and Soft Serve Sundae.

Those who can’t decide can opt to indulge in the $65pp ‘Feed Me’ menu and try a selection of house favourites, available to order for a minimum of two diners.

The Wong Baby menu is accompanied by a colourful cocktails and drinks list that’s sure to be a crowd-pleaser, including fishbowl cocktails, Yuzu and sake jelly shots served over ice and topped with caviar, as well as an extensive wine and beer selection.

Retro lovers will adore the two-arcade table that will offer all the classic games and a Juke Box on each level of the restaurant will allow guests to choose their favourite 80s, 90s and 2000s party tunes.

To celebrate the restaurant’s opening weekend, Wong Baby is giving away fortune cookies with prizes to every guest who dines with them. Prizes include the chance to win a year’s worth of dumplings, Wong Baby t-shirts, beer mugs, and more. Every guest is a winner!

“We are so excited to be welcoming Melburnians to Wong Baby at the stunning new Goldfields House development and transport them from South Yarra to the streets of Southeast Asia”, said Good Group CEO Russell Gray.

Wong Baby will be the new go-to destination for groups to experience delicious fun-dining Asian cuisine in one of Melbourne’s most thriving food precincts, the iconic Chapel Street.

Melburnians can book their table at Wong Baby via the website.
